OUR ACTIVITIES
Hindustan Antibiotics Ltd. (HAL), a Govt. of India Enterprise, is the first drug manufacturing company set up in the public sector by Government of India with the help of World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
HAL, started as Penicillin bulk drug manufacturing company in Pimpri, Pune by Government of India.
Set up on 10th March, 1954, HAL is the first drug manufacturing unit in India to undertake commercial production of antibiotics like Penicillin, Streptomycin, Gentamicin, Ampicillin & Amoxycillin etc. HAL has diversified into formulation activity and has facility to manufacture various dosage forms – Injectables, Capsules, Tablets, liquid orals, I.V. Fluids, etc. conforming to pharmacopoeial standards. HAL has also diversified into agro-vet products.
Our R&D has the distinction of being the only laboratory in the public sector in India which has come out with its own discoveries of new molecules Viz. Hamycin for skin infections and Aureofungin for plant fungal control.
ORGANIZATIONAL SET UP AND ROLE OF THE COMPANY
HAL has a well defined system of decision making with adequate channels of supervision and accountability. Proposals requiring decisions of any nature are initiated at an appropriate level in the concerned department / branches and at the corporate level. Proposals generally pass through Head of the Department and are finally approved by Managing Director (MD). All proposals having financial implications are routed through Finance Department. Powers delegated to various approving authorities are clearly spelt out in HALs Delegation of Power documents.
Whenever required Departmental Committees are formed to expediter decision making.
Major policy decisions and decisions going beyond the delegation of powers of M.D. level are put up to the Board for approval for financial concurrence.
